Eligibility to get PhD

A Master's Degree in respective subjects with 55% marks from a recognized University is a general qualifying criterion for PhD programs across India. Many Universities ask for a UGC NET certificate as a basic requisite for it.. PhD admission is done based on the scores obtained in entrance exams such as UGC NET/CSIR UGC NET, GATE, IIT JAM, etc. Some universities conduct entrance exams to select candidates for PhD programs. But others use the eligibility test scores for getting into PhD So if you are not qualified in the UGC NET, don't worry you can directly move to the entrance exam conducted by the university.

PhD takes 4-5 years to complete. It can be secure in two ways :

Full Time :
A full-time PhD is for the candidate who can complete PhD full-time by regularly attending all the classes. And can complete the PhD within 3-4 years.

Part-Time :
Part-time PhD is in two ways: Part-time Internal and External. Part-time Internal is where the candidate works in the university and does the PhD in the same university he/she works. This type of PhD can be completed in 4-5 years. Part-time External PhD where the candidate works in some other university and pursues PhD in a recognized university as an Assistant Professor / Associate Professor / Professor or in an equivalent position. The candidate should produce NOC(no objection certificate) at the time of PhD admission.
